CODE OF ETHICS FOR AMBASSADORS

Introduction

Being an Ambassador of MotW is a commitment to work for the general welfare and legitimate interests of the Mauritian Diaspora community.
The purpose of this Code of Ethics is to assist the Ambassadors in discharging their duties with honour and integrity. It provides a set of moral principles which should govern their conduct at all times. A significant breach of the Code may amount to misconduct.

Ambassadors should be familiar with the entire Code and should apply the principles therein, in whole or in part, in carrying their functions, duties and responsibilities as citizen Ambassadors. These principles will be taken into consideration when any complaint is received from members of the public.

The purpose of having all our Ambassadors adopt this Code of Ethics is to serve not only as a guide but as a point of reference for users of our services, providing the openness and accountability necessary to promote public confidence in MotW.

The Board of Trustees of MotW is responsible for all appointment of Ambassadors and the Board is bound by the overriding principle that all appointments shall be made with a view to selecting, on objective criteria, a suitable person to fulfil the role of Ambassador and that the appointment shall not be affected by any personal factors whatsoever.

The Board of Trustees will always take such steps as may be reasonable and practicable to satisfy itself that applicants are in fact suitable persons to be appointed.

Ambassadors serve one year terms, which run from May to April. New Ambassadors can only come on board during the months of May, September and January. There is not a limit to how many terms an Ambassador can serve. Ambassador must reapply each year to serve another term.
