Mauritians of the World™ (abbreviated as “MotW”) is an international charitable organisation, completely independent of government, incorporated under the laws of England and Wales on 17 September 2009. Our primary objective is to promote the general welfare and legitimate interests of all Mauritians resident outside Mauritius; beyond any political or confessional concerns.
Within the above overall purpose MotW has the following specific objectives:
- To provide a forum for members of the Mauritian Diaspora to participate and contribute in the construction of our national identity;
- To advance the education of the general public in all matters relating to the languages, history and culture of the Mauritian people, thereby promoting the Mauritian brand of good race relations;
- To mobilize the skills, expertise, contacts, knowledge, business acumen, financial and political resources of the Diaspora community as a collective resource to bring about social, cultural and economic benefits at home;
- To provide a forum for creative individuals and organisations within the Diaspora willing to grapple with issues and bring about change for the common good on the issues they feel passionately about;
- To disseminate regularly information on national developments affecting the Mauritian community abroad as a whole;
- To further the interaction between Mauritian people and other communities on a global level in promoting world peace, progress and ecological harmony.
We are an ideas organisation focussing on the power of communication and partnerships and we strive to be an organisation that is relevant for and in a position to serve all those in the Diaspora. Therefore, we very much welcome and value your views and input, regardless of age, ethnic background, length of time spent outside Mauritius, gender, education or occupation.
